Dear Student,

The Twin Cities Tall Club (TCTC) is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for our Tall Teen Scholarship. The Twin Cities Tall Club is a social organization for tall women and men and has been a member of Tall Clubs International (TCI) for 60 years.  TCI consists of over 55 clubs throughout the United States and Canada. TCI members take pride in fostering tall awareness and are involved in social activities and service projects in their communities.

The TCTC scholarships are open to all graduating high school students planning to attend a two or four-year college and who meet the TCI height requirements of 5’10" or taller for women and 6’2" or taller for men. In June 2008, TCTC will award two scholarships: first place for $1,000.00 and second place for $500.00. The first place recipient of our local scholarship will also be recommended to the TCI Kae Sumner Einfeldt Scholarship Committee for consideration for a national $1,000.00 scholarship that will be awarded at the annual TCI Convention in July.

To be considered for this scholarship, please complete the application materials and send all the requested documents to the Twin Cities Tall Club, to be received by March 20, 2008.

Each student will be judged on the following general criteria:
1. Grades; taking into account weighted averages and honors courses
2. Outside activities
3. School activities
4. Applicant’s essay
5. Personal achievement based on recommendations (We strongly suggest that you send the two required recommendations with your transcript and application - please note that one recommendation must be from the school community and one must be from outside the school.)

Our committee will review all applications in May. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Up to six applicants will be selected as semi-finalists and will be invited for personal interviews, date and site to be arranged. Applicants will be measured for TCI height requirements at the interview. The top two finalists will be selected and awarded the scholarships at the TCTC monthly meeting in June. We will also submit the application materials of the top finalist, along with a letter of recommendation to submit our winner for consideration for one of the national TCI Kae Sumner Einfeldt Scholarships.

We have enclosed all the information you will need to apply for the TCTC Tall Teen Scholarship. All application materials must be received by March 20, 2008 to be considered. If you have any questions, please call me at 651-497-8924 or scholarship@tctallclub.org.

Sincerely,

Keith A. Hardy
2008 TCTC Tall Teen Scholarship Committee Chair
